upon a time in Paris...

Where all foodie fairytales begin... Paris on 24th December 2009. It was not in one of Paris' thousands of deliscrumptious (I think I just made up a new word!) bakeries that the girls first met (that came later :) but on the open air ice rink outside Hôtel de Ville (another clichéd Parisian experience I know!)

It was foodie love at first sight. Introduced by a mutual friend, Katie and Mimi became BFFs (Best Foodie Friends) instantly. Katie (the chef) had finished her pâtisserie training at the world-renowned Le Cordon Bleu London and was working for the top pâtisseries and caterers in London and Paris. Mimi (the foodie) was thinking about food for the umpty-umpth time that day and was counting down the days to her cuisine provençale adventures in the south of France.

With three days left in Paris, Katie and Mimi ate their way through the city of culinary dreams... from Ladurée macarons to foie gras with pear compote (from the 'leftover' foie gras at l’Atelier des Sens).

A year has past since their adventures in Paris. Katie has worked as a chef for arguably the best gastronomic restaurant in Australia and is now also writing an up-and-coming cookbook. Mimi is living in Europe - whe she's not writing her thesis on international law, she is drinking calvados in Normandy or exploring the spice markets of Istanbul.

This blog is for the BFFs to stay in touch with each other, their families and friends, and of course, to share their foodie love with the world!

Bon appétit!
